What is a Bundt cake?

A Bundt cake is a traditional American doughnut-shaped cake. Inspired by German Bundkuchen, Bundt cakes do not have specific recipes but share common features in style. They are baked in a Bundt pan – a ring-shape with a hole in the middle and traditionally have fluted or grooved edges. A spiced cake batter is often used, but Bundt cakes are enjoyed in a range of flavours, from rich chocolate to fruity sponges.

Their unique shape – with a hole in the centre – allows for the cake to bake evenly and be cut equally. NordicWare coined the name Bundt to describe their fluted design.
